Product Profile
Canobolas-Smith Wines 'Shine' Chardonnay 2005
Medium Bodied, Dry, White, Chardonnay, Drink now or cellar, 13.5% alc.
Tasting Notes
This is a lovely Chardonnay of depth and richness, complexity and length. Grapefuit and melon upfront, with mineral touches; well-integrated oak underlies.
95 Points Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine -
"Very restrained and youthful with terrific underlying complexity; a more reserved vintage for this maker. While great now it promises more with time. Continues to unfold in the glass. $45"

Canobolas-Smith Wines
The Smith family established Canobolas-Smith Wines in 1986 after a detailed site selection search by winemaker and viticulturist, Murray Smith. The unirrigated vineyard of eight hectares is at an elevation of 800m on the northern slopes of Mt. Canobolas, the dramatic and defining extinct volcano just west of Orange in NSW. The average annual rainfall is 850mm and snow falls each winter. The soil is a free-draining clay loam derived from basalt.
The ageworthiness of these wines is astonishing, with no greater example than the 1991 Cabernets. “Alchemy” and “Shine” wines deserve their iconic status, though each tier represents amazing value. These are wines of great personality; interest; and scarcity.
