Tinpot Hut Sauvignon Blanc 2011
Light-Bodied, Dry, White, Sauvignon Blanc, Drink Now, 13.5% alc
Tasting Notes
The Tin Pot Hut Sauvignon is blend of 2/3 Awatere and 1/3 Wairau fruit. The nose has the typical Awatere 'lift'; a combination fresh herbs; lemon grass and thyme, with touches of blackcurrant bud, citrus peel and mineral. The palate is dry, with lovely silky fruit flavours in the cool climate spectrum; capsicum, nettle, minerally, almost crystallised fruit. There is good mid palate weight, the addition of Wairau fruit giving a little flesh and richness, and a long finish.

Tinpot Hut
Winemaker Fiona Turner has worked with Matt Thomson on many of the most successful wines made in Marlborough. The Tinpot Hut wines are made predominantly in Fiona's own vineyard in Blind River, in Awatere, supplemented by fruit from growers that Fiona and Matt work with throughout the year. The tinpot hut that gave its name to Fiona's brand is an old mustering hut in the remote hills between the Wairau and Awatere Valleys, with the corrugated iron roof that was historically so typical of many homesteads and huts in the rural New Zealand.
