Tasting Notes
This Nebbiolo is from a single vineyard, with vines ranging from 10 to 60 years old, in Barbaresco. 100% Nebbiolo, it is aged for 12 months in large oak casks, and has lots of density, structure and pungent, complex fruit. Much more powerful than the 2008, this impressive mini Barbaresco represents a terrific value.

Angelo Rocca had a revelation several years ago and decided to move away from barriques and back to large format, neutral oak (the ultimate vessel for Nebbiolo maturation). Today only a small percentage of the Barbera and the Brich Ronchi spend any time in barrique and very few of these barrels are new. All other wines are matured in large, 2,000 litre botti, The wines are still “modern” in the sense that they are ripe, pure and meticulously made, but instead of any distracting new oak character you have solely the wonderful dark cherry, floral and savoury structured personality of Nebbiolo in all its glory.
