Tasting Notes
This wine comes from a recently acquired parcel of land in Castiglioni Falletto - the commune near the geographical centre of Barolo. These wines are generally softer and slightly more forward with sweeter tannins than those of Serralunga.
"The estate's 2007 Barolo Parussi is a new wine from a recently acquired parcel in Castiglione Falletto and is the only Massolino Barolo not from Serralunga. A delicate, feminine Barolo, the Parussi flows with silky, perfumed red berries. Silky tannins frame the juicy finish. The Parussi has a lot in common with the fragrant Barolos from Castiglione's top vineyards, including Monprivato and Rocche. It is a fabulous first effort. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2017. 92 points." Antonio Galloni, erobertparker.com
Producer
Massolino
Founded in 1896, Massolino Winery, is based in and around the town of Serralunga, one of the prime sub-zones of the Barolo DOC. Massolino’s vineyards occupy some of the prime “crus” on the slopes of this sub zone, including Margheria, Parafada and Vigna Rionda.
The Massolino wines walk the tightrope between the old world and the new - pure, precise and vibrant yet distinctly regional - and they are well priced in comparison with the other top producers of the region.
