DOMAINE ARLAUD MIXED SIX PACK
1 bottle Morey St Denis 1er Cru Millandes 2004 @ $129.99
This climate seems to be the place, where once in Morey Saint-Denis "The Millet” was cultivated. The nose shows a subtle, light leaf mould, which turns to ripe and juicy red fruits on the palate. The finish is long backed by a linear like acidity. Providing pleasure now or later, this was one of the most highly regarded wines at our most recent portfolio tasting.
2 bottles Gevrey Chambertin 2006 @ $89.99
The name of Gevrey Chambertin is the largest appellation in the area Côte de Nuits, with a total of approximately 530 hectares (including 356 ha classified as a village).
Medium purple to red in colour, the nose is rich and ripe, with notes of dark fruit and spices. On the palate the wine is both concentrated and intense, but with the freshness to match. The finish is long showing the spices and hints of licorice, with firm, slightly oaky tannins. A big, firm masculine Gevrey - now or for the cellar.
3 bottles Bourgogne Roncevie 2006 @ $49.99
Roncevie is the name of a single climate located on the town of Gevrey Chambertin. The nose displays notes of ripe strawberry, earth and underbrush. On the palate the tannins are fine and chalky, with some dry and savoury, slightly charred fruit. This is very good indeed at this level, and very popular.

Domaine Christian Sérafin, Gevrey Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2006
Medium Bodied, Dry, Red, Pinot Noir, Drink now or cellar, 13% alc.
A fine, powerful Gevrey Chambertin dominated by rich red fruit with some threads of blackcurrant running through it. Packed full of energy, this will be at its best from 2012-2016.
Tasting note: Always one of the great villages level wines in virtually every vintage and 2006 is no exception as the slightly riper dark berry fruit aromas are laced with distinct notes of warm earth, game and underbrush that are picked up by the bold, rich, intense and solidly structured flavors that are both balanced and powerful, all wrapped in a mouth coating finish brimming with extract. Terrific and recommended.

Domaine du Meix-Foulot, Mercurey 1er Cru Clos du Château de Montaigu 2005
Medium Bodied, Dry, Red, Pinot Noir, Drink now or cellar, 13% alc.
The appellation Mercurey 1er Cru, “Clos du Château de Montaigu” encompasses one parcel roughly 1.9 hectares in size, surrounded by walls dating back to the vestiges of the Château de Montaigu. These vines are 35 years old on average. The soil is clayey limestone.
Once picked, the grapes are destemmed and stored in the tank for fermentation lasting approximately 12 days, accompanied by much treading or pumping-over. The wine is then racked in barrels, 20% of which are renewed each year. Barrel ageing lasts about 18 months, and the blending step is immediately followed by bottling.
The Mercurey 1er Cru "Clos du Château de Montaigu" is always rich in color and extremely solid. This wine is built to be aged. The bouquet exudes intense aromas of wild berries and blackcurrant. Most vintages also release a hint of spice. This vintage offers a lingering finish and matures nicely when aged.
Tasting note: A very mild touch of reduction detracts from the expressiveness of the otherwise pretty red berry fruit and subtle spice aromas that precede the rich, full and still tight big-bodied flavours that possess serious volume and plenty of underlying muscle, all wrapped in a textured and overtly structured finish that makes it quite clear that this is built to age. It will need at least a decade to be at its best and perhaps longer. A great Mercurey.
