Summer Lovin’

It happened so fast...

Christmas came and went, New Year’s Eve disappeared in a flash (a big one in some places), and we’re back in the office. However, it is not all doom and gloom - there is plenty to love in the world of wine this January.

The Rosé Revolution

“We are trying to promote Rosé for grown ups – dry, savoury, textural, serious but not to be taken too seriously.” So say the founders of the Rose Revolution. Couldn’t agree more and the feedback on our two “Rosé of the Summer” recommendations has been absolutely outstanding. Get into both La Belle Pierre and Le Rosé du Vallon as soon as you can - they are absolutely fantastic wines. Don’t just take my word for it: the record for one sitting is five bottles of Le Rosé du Vallon. I am not sure I should encourage this, but I can certainly understand how it happened...

Summer of Riesling

“The world’s only true noble grape variety”, or so the publicity goes for this festival of Riesling. Regardless of any claim, Riesling is one of our favourite wines here and we are delighted to be offering two from Eden Road Wines. Whether you choose the “steely but lithe” Canberra Riesling or the "scintillatingly crisp and lively" The Long Road Riesling, you will have a beautifully fresh wine to enliven your tastebuds on a hot summer's day or evening. Why not take six of each?

Extremely Limited Mixed Packs

For the white wine drinker it is hard to go past our Village Chablis and Rhone Mixed Dozen. Three beautiful wines from the fabulous 2007 vintage - all drinking absolutely beautifully now. Dry, crisp, linear, minerally, textural - they offer SO much!

For the red drinker the Domaine Arlaud Mixed Six Pack (or dozen!) provides three of our favourite wines in their most affordable combination. This is the most limited pack of all - not least because of some repeat purchases from clients who were given this at Christmas, so get in fast!

Barossa Shiraz

Sometimes it just has to be a Shiraz from the Barossa. No particular reason - it is just that that is what is called for! Fortunately we have two lovely examples of all that is good about this Australia icon: intense fruit; integrated oak, palate weight. From Kalleske vineyards the Laughing Jack Jack’s Shiraz and the Greenock Shiraz both offer such characteristics and deliver great value vintage after vintage. If you haven’t tried one yet, now is the time.

So plenty to think about, and plenty to keep the post-Christmas blues away. And plenty to enjoy on Australia Day for that matter. Things are looking up already!

Cheers!
